About the Region
In recent years Mandurah has come of age as a forward thinking and welcoming city, known for its natural beauty, festivals and artistic and cultural offerings.
Many creatives are inspired by the area’s natural beauty. The city is the gateway to the stunning southwest, Australia’s only biodiversity hotspot, which teems with unique flora and fauna.
Mandurah sits on edge of the Indian Ocean, surrounded by waterways. To the east are the jarrah forests and farmlands of the Darling Range – Western Australia’s food bowl.
Named one of the world’s most liveable cities in 2011, Mandurah’s cultural heritage began with the Bindjareb tribe of the Bibbulmun Nation more than 40,000 years ago.
Visitors may experience the world’s oldest living culture, or immerse themselves in the best artistic offerings from around the globe at the performing arts centre - although guest artists are sometimes upstaged by the dolphins that live and play just outside!
Visitors may also enjoy fresh produce and Western Australian wines at the city’s many eateries, most of which boast enviable positions on the estuary
