Sixty Years of Painting
Don Mummery was born in Narrogin, Western Australia, in 1932. He completed his formal art training at Perth Technical College and the Western Australian Institute of Technology.
Dons preferred medium is watercolour or aquarelle, a painting method in which the paints are made of pigments suspended in a water-based solution, a translucent paint that appears luminous because the pigments are laid down in a pure form upon a white base, allowing for maximum reflected light to enter directly into the eye.
A paradoxical medium, seen by some as the perfect entry into painting but by many as technically challenging and difficult to master.
